Supported Countries and Currencies
Introduction
AUTO.AE is a regional automotive marketplace serving users across the Middle East and beyond. It supports multiple countries as ad locations and offers a broad choice of currencies.
Sellers may price their vehicles in various currencies (AED, SAR, USD, etc.), while buyers can view everything in whichever currency suits them best. This cross-border setup lets you shop for vehicles in different regions and instantly see costs in the currency you are comfortable with.
Core Terminology
| Term | Meaning |
| GCC | Gulf Cooperation Council — includes UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain. |
| Listing Currency | The currency the seller picks when creating the ad (e.g., SAR, USD). |
| Display Currency | The currency the buyer selects to view all prices on the site. |
| Export | Buying a car in one country (e.g., UAE) and shipping it to another. |

How to Pick a Country
Country filtering is done through the Filters panel on the search results page.
Steps
- Go to the marketplace: Open "Buy a Car," "Rent a Car," or "Buy a License Plate."
- Open Filters: Tap the Filters button to expand the panel.
- Locate the Country filter: Scroll to the location section.
- Tick the countries you need: Check one or several boxes.
- Apply: Results update to show only ads from the selected countries.
Default behaviour
If you leave the country filter untouched, the platform displays ads from every supported country, sorted by date (newest first). There is no automatic priority given to UAE ads over others — the sort order decides what comes first.

Switching Your Currency
Buyers can pick their preferred display currency through the header at the top of any page.
Steps
- Find the currency selector: Look for the currency code in the top bar (e.g., "AED" or "EN, AED").
- Click to open the menu: A list of currencies appears.
- Choose your currency: Click the one you want.
- Done: The page refreshes with all prices shown in your chosen currency.
How Prices Appear
Understanding the price display logic is important:
- Seller's choice: When posting an ad, the seller sets the currency. For example, a Riyadh-based seller might list a car for 100,000 SAR. A Dubai seller might tag a car at 50,000 USD (common for export vehicles).
- What you see: If you (the buyer) have selected AED as your display currency:
- You see the price converted to AED (e.g., "98,000 AED").
- You also see a label reading Original price: 100,000 SAR.
This way you always know the seller's exact asking amount, while still browsing in the currency you are used to.

Helpful Tips
- Negotiate in the original currency: Always base your offer on the original currency the seller used. Exchange rates shift daily, so anchor on the seller's stated figure.
- Multi-country search: You can tick several countries at once to compare ads across borders.
- USD in the UAE: Seeing a UAE-based ad priced in USD often hints that the car is intended for export, though that is not a strict rule.
Pitfalls to Avoid
- Assuming everything is in AED: Sellers can list in any currency. Check the "Original price" note if your display currency differs from the listing currency.
- Paying according to the converted price: The platform's conversion is an estimate. The real payment amount depends on whatever exchange rate you and the seller agree on.
